White Spirit antique jade beads
Special necklace of rare antique handmade beads with an old Buddha amulet.
Phra Somdej Wat Rakang Pim Yai is the full name of what is called the emperor amongst the small Buddha amulets. We see Buddha depicted abstractly, sitting on a high throne, of which the top layer represents Buddha's legs. Buddha sits in the so called lotus position with the soles of his feet upwards and his hands folded in his lap with the palms facing upwards while the thumbs touch each other. This position symbolises perfect balance and complete meditation. Above Buddha's head we can see a long flame that indicates that it concerns Buddha. This flame indicates that he reached enlightenment, Buddha-ship.
These old amulets were made following the, highly coveted, original Phra Somdej amulet that was made in 1867 by a famous monk. The first production process occurred as follows: the monk wrote certain holy texts (Sutra's) on a slate with chalk, hundreds of times over as a practice. Every time the texts were written and erased. The remnants of the chalk were collected, mixed with water and subsequently moulded into a new marker and dried in the sun. It was then re-used for hundreds of repetitions of other chapters of the Sutras. This ritual was repeated 5 times. Due to this, the amulet has 5 holy powers. After this, the chalk was mixed with powder-shells, rice powder, holy grain, holy seeds, holy water and Tung oil, which worked as cement. Then, the substance was pressed and dried in 5 different freestone moulds, with the addition of a secret ingredient per amulet.
The later reproductions of this famous amulet were all made in Bangkok and are made from chalk, shell sand, 108 holy seeds, water and Tung oil. Monks recite holy texts during the production process, after which the amulets are blessed.
The popular amulet exists in many shapes and it is said that the carrier is successful and gains extra charisma. The Phra Somdej amulet is especially popular with movie stars and TV-personalities. Additionally, the amulet protects the wearer from danger from outside and it offers serenity and balance.
The long unpolished jade bead are off-white. The bead is antique and comes from Afghanistan. By skin contact, the beads can change of color. Some beads become slightly translucent and some a bit soft green and shades of brown can come up.
The colours of the beads are tuned to the amulet and the amulet has a mystical character. The chain is approximately 115 cm long, so it can easily be folded in two.
