Moonstone has a strong connection with the moon and female energy. The stone promotes intuition and fertility and has a calming effect on the emotional life. Phra Somdej Wat Rakang Pim Yai is the full name of what is called the king among the little Buddha amulets. We see Buddha depicted in an abstract way, seated on a high throne, of which the top layer represents Buddha's legs. Buddha sits in the so-called lotus position with the soles of his feet pointed upward and his hands are folded in his lap with the palms upwards while the thumbs touch each other. This position symbolizes perfect balance and utmost meditation. Above Buddha's head we see a long flame, that signifies that we are dealing with Buddha here. This flame signifies that he has reached enlightenment, Buddhahood.

These old amulets were made as an imitation of the original Phra Somdey amulet that was made by a famous monk in 1867 and is most coveted in Thailand. The first production process occurred as follows: The monk wrote certain holy texts (Sutras) with chalk on a slate one hundred times as practice. Over and over it was written and wiped away. The chalk that was wiped away was gathered and moulded into a new stylus with water, that, dried in the sun, was used again for hundreds of repetitions of another chapter of the Sutras. This ritual was repeated 5 times. Because of this, the amulet carries 5 holy powers. After this, the chalk was mixed with shells mashed into powder, rice powder, holy grains, holy seeds, holy water and Tung oil which functioned as cement. Subsequently, the substance was pressed into 5 different stone moulds, with an extra secret addition per amulet, and dried.

The later imitations of this famous amulet are all from Bangkok and have been made of chalk, shell sand, 108 holy seeds, water and Tung oil. Monks recite holy texts during the production process, after which the amulets are blessed.

The highly popular amulet exists in many shapes and it is said that the bearer will be successful and acquires extra charisma. The Phra Somdey amulet is particularly favorite of movie stars and TV-personalities. Additionally, it protects the bearer from external danger and offers peace and balance.

This necklace is approximately 108 cm long, but can be made shorter or longer upon request for free. The beads of white moonstone are 10 mm. The amulet is 4,5 x 3,5 cm.
